German term or phrase: im ordo
"Überall und zu allen Zeiten haben die Dämonen im Dunkeln gelautet auf die Stunde, da der Mensch schwach wird, da er seine ihm von Gott auf Freiheit gegründete Stellung im ordo eigenmächtig verlässt, da er dem Druck des Bösen nachgibt, sich von den Mächten höherer Ordnung loslöst und so, nachdem er den ersten Schritt freiwillig getan, zum zweiten und dritten und immer mehr getrieben wird mit rasend steigender Geschwindigkeit."

This is an excerpt from a text, from the 4th leaflet of the White Rose, and anti-Nazi resistance group, which was especially active in Munich in 1942 and after. In the spring of 1943, the White Rose was uncovered and arrested by the Gestapo, and its most prominent members were subsequently sentenced to death by the Voksgerichtshof under Freisler, after which they were executed.

I have the feeling that the term "im ordo" may come from a Latin.
Can anyone help me with the meaning of these words, in the above-mentioned context.

TIA
Alexander

Alternatively, '[man's place] in God's order', except that you already have 'God' in your sentence.

"Ordo ist einer der ranghöchsten Symbolbegriffe der scholastischen Metaphysik. Ordo in der Verbindung von ordo creationis, ordo universi oder ordo rerum meint die Ordnung und Stufung des Seins im Sinne einer vorgegebenen Korrelation aller Einzelerscheinungen der empirischen Welt. Ordo ist also im Gegensatz zu den vom Menschen gesetzten Satzungen und Normen etwas "a priori" in den Dingen Liegendes."
