German term or phrase: syntax of "behaupten" in passive with "von+jemandem"
"Ich habe das Kino gewählt, um Zeichen für die von mir behauptete kulturelle Zeitenwende zu suchen, die eben nicht nur oder vielleicht sogar am aller wenigsten in den intellektuellen Feuilleton-Debatten stattfindet."

Does the structure "von+jemandem+behauptet" mean that this jemand is doing the behaupten or that it is behauptet of him/her?

I suspect this is too simple for me to have to ask, but I am dead-tired and cannot think straight.

Many thanks to all.

English translation:this person is doing the claiming
Explanation:
I think the main difficulty with this sentence is the way "behaupten" is being used.

VERY ROUGH translation: to look for signs of the cultural "turn of an era" that I claimed happened, which was in fact not or maybe even least of all discussed in the intellectual debates.

Yes, the structure "von+mir+behauptet" means that this person is doing the behaupten.

neutral  Nesrin: ...unless you're saying "es wurde von mir behauptet dass...". I think that's the construction that confused the asker.

agree  Johanna Timm, PhD: I don't see anything wrong with this suggestion. Yes, the speaker claims, and yes, to a non-native this might sound complicated.

Explanation:
I chose the cinema as a means to verify my hypothesis of a major cultural change.

(The speaker himself is the one who "behauptet").

Sorry, the article before \"cinema\" is of course redundant:

I chose cinema as a means to verify my hypothesis according to which we are in the middle of a major cultural change.

Another correction (\"means of verifying\"):

I chose cinema as a means of verifying my hypothesis according to which we are in the middle of a major cultural change.

agree  Nesrin: I like 'hypothesis'. "Cultural change claimed by myself" just doesn't work.
