Hi everyone! Am struggling with the term "Fähigkeitsraum". At the first sentence regarding the tasks of the commission, I thought it meant their "scope of competence", but that does not fit to the other sentences I then later found in the text. The context is a procedural description for material handling, with lots of ERP stuff in there.

Based on the last quoted example, there are various "Räume" to which a part can belong, including made-to-order, engineer-to-order etc., and another such "Raum" ist the "Fähigkeitsraum"... How would you call these "Räume" and in particular the "Fähigkeitsraum"?

Thanks in advance for any help and ideas!

Thanks for your suggestions, we ended up using "variant design capability" (without any "Raum" in it), but the suggestions helped the discussion along. This is now coined analogously to "series capability", changing the use of prepositions slightly as compared to the "Raum", so instead of "im Fähigkeitsraum" it would be products "with variant design capability".
