Maximal quality/value Explanation: Maximal + Eigenschaft would mean maximal amount/value a certain variable can take. I am by no means an expert of math, so that is just an educated guess. |

Maximum area property Explanation: A 'Sehne' is chord of a circle. Thus a 'Sehnenpolygon' is a cyclic polygon, whose vertices all lie on a circle and whose sides are chords of the circle. The 'Maximaleigenschaft' refers to maximizing the area of the polygon, which is only true if the polygon is regular, i.e. all the sides are of the same length. It's true that 'Maximum area property' is a somewhat literal translation. Googling it doesn't give a huge number of hits. I would tend to paraphrase the sentence, for example: "This does not yet prove that the cyclic polygon, or rather the regular 2m-sided polygon, has a maximum area." Example sentence(s):
