Medical - Medical (general) / Anatomy question
German term or phrase: flächenhafte Sehnen
From a general description of the human musculoskeletal system:

"Die Sehnen werden je nach Lokalisation, Form und Verlaufsrichtung der Muskel in Zug-, Druck- oder flächenhafte Sehnen unterschieden."

I've been able to find explanations in German of what these tendon types do, but I'm getting nowhere trying to find the correct English terms for all three kinds of tendon. Can anyone help, please? Thank you very much!

Asker: Thank you very much for all your help. I've gone with "tensile tendons, compressive tendons or aponeuroses". It's taken me longer to sort out these three terms than the last three paragraphs!
