Medical - Medical (general) / Summary of patient's condition (insurance claim)
German term or phrase: versorgt
Good evening,

A term I am not quite certain of - in this context - is the above, as used in the doctor's handwritten sentence below:

"Fraktur Dig I re Hand -> Ø versorgt".

I believe this to mean that the client broke the index finger on his right hand, and this injury went untreated. Do others agree, and if not, could you shed some more light? Let me know if I need to provide further context than the above. The doctor is listing the client's medical history/old injuries on a claim form.

Many thanks as always,
Alison.

Explanation:

cared for
attended to

Beispiele:

eine Wunde nicht versorgen v—leave a wound unattended v
:

Even if it is not yet a big hospital, we can already do important medications like attending wounds, giving bandage, measuring blood pressure, giving injections or making blood tests e.g. for malaria and much more.

Wound treatment is performed according to pathology, the extent, and circumstances of the lesions. To heal, the wound needs to have a vascular supply, be free of necrotic tissue, clear of infection, and moist. General wound treatment includes surgical wound closure, open wound treatment, and plastic reconstruction of skin defects.

Caring for large wounds or wounds with stitches or staples
• If you were prescribed antibiotic pills, take them as directed until they are gone.
• Change your dressings (bandages) as directed.
• Keep the wound dry for 48 hours after it was treated.
• After the first 48 hours, wash the wound as needed with mild soap and water. Then put a very thin layer of antibiotic ointment over the stitches or staples, if your healthcare provider directs you to.

Thanks again,
Notes to answerer
Asker: Thank you so much for your detailed response. Unfortunately, in the UK, finger and toe injuries often are left 'untreated' and simply left to heal by themselves. So this is perfectly plausible.
