German term or phrase: Entäußerung
Good morning! I hope you can assist me quickly...

I have here a text of a patient with epilepsy. History:

What is the exact meaning of Entäußerung?

Please answer only if you know for sure. I could easily guess myself.

Thank you!!

During her hospital stay, the patient daily experienced these myoclonic phenomena with isolated jerks or flurries of repetitive jerks, involving the trunk, legs, and occasionally the arms.

There might be a more literal translation, but this seems to be commonly used in this context.

/ uncontrolled / reflex myoclonus

Explanation:
I'd avoid 'jerk' for US Am consumption. A relative of mine in the States long ago built up a 'soda jerk' bar business.

Example sentence(s):
  • Involuntary movements compose a group of uncontrolled movements that may ... (action myoclonus) or as a result of a stimulus (startle or reflex myoclonus).
