INR - international normalized ration
Explanation:
INR recommendations [for] self-management...

INR
Abk. für International Normalized Ratio; Prothrombinratio, Kenngröße zur Überwachung bei Antikoagulanzientherapie; bestimmt mit dem internationalen Thromboplastinstandard der WHO.
[Roche, Lexikon Medizin, 4. Aufl.]

INR refers to the prothrombin time (see below)
Thromboplastinzeit (): Abk. TPZ, syn. Prothrombinzeit; Parameter zum Nachweis von Störungen im exogenen System der Blutgerinnung* (Faktor II, V, VII, X); Bestimmung durch Messung der Gerinnungszeit nach Inkubation von Zitratplasma mit Gewebethromboplastin u. Calcium-Ionen (sog. Quick-Test); Angabe in Prozent der Gerinnungszeit eines Referenznormalplasmas (sog. Quick-Wert) od. besser (da methodenunabhängig) als sog. International normalized ratio (Abk.
Blutgerinnung (Tab.). Vgl. Thrombotest, Thrombinzeit.

(English:) prothrombin time, Quick’s time, Quick’s method, Quick value, Quick test, thromboplastin time, prothrombin test

INR = International Normalized Ratio

Explanation:
A system of standardizing the Pt "Prothrombin time" in oral anticoagulant control was introduced by the World Health Organization in 1983. It is based upon the determination of an international Normalized Ratio (INR) which provides a common basis for communications of PT results and interpretations of therapeutic ranges.

The INR is derived from calibrations of commercial thromboplastin reagents against a sensitive brain thromboplastin, the International Reference Preparation (IRP).

Here are some Google hits:

"Changes in the patient's alanine aminotransferase (ALT) level (circles) and international normalized ratio (INR)
tory values at presentation were as follows..."

"Oral anti-coagulation is monitored by determination of the INR (International Normalised Ratio)"
