SPC (cholinesterase inhibitor):

I am trying to find a suitable word for "schonend". I am entertaining the word 'gradual" but I don't want to say something that may be wrong ( I do not know if this drug has a slow or rapid onset of action).

"gradual onset of action"??

Thanks!

gentle [onset of action]
Explanation:
"Gentle onset of action" might possibly work here...

"If treatment is required shortly after this period, agents with a slow and gentle onset of action appear to be preferable..."

"Ativan is another member of that family. The only drug around which is NOT of this family, but relaxing without sleepiness, is Buspirone, though it has a gentle onset of action, and takes a couple of weeks to show its full effect."

That said, my spontaneous idea would also have been "gradual".

I am awarding point, though I went with "gradual" because this is what it means ( slow as opposed to fast). I wanted to stay as 'medical'/standard as possible, although I realize that the DE original wasn't that strict :) Thanks!

Notes to answerer
Asker: "Gentle" is a safe bet, rather vague, in line with the original :) But the scientific meaning is probably gradual, even slow.

agree  Lis Liesicke: would use gradual though as "gradual onset of action"+medication (or drugs) gets far more hits than "gentle onset of action"+medication

Explanation:

Explanation:
you might say gradual, but that is not a given; in any case it does not alarm the organism, as it were.

kicking in gradually

Explanation:
has the advantage of kicking in gradually/being gentle in its action

Those suggestions may have the disadvantage of being to colloquial for the target audience
