This is part of a few amended SOPs concerning clinical trials. The document is a complete mix of English and German text: "Change in Protocol (Aufweitung der Visitenfenster + minor revisions);" - am I correct in assuming that these are time frames for doctors' rounds? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I agree that it's not about doctor's rounds - it refers to patients visiting the study site/center/hospital, but I think they are called "visit windows" in English, too.

Time-frame for visits by the patient


Explanation:
The Visiten will be the visits that the patient has to make to the doctor's clinic as part of the clinical trial (not the doctor's rounds). Means that the time-frame will be extended for those visits - clinical trials usually have 3 main phases: the screening (before), the "visits" (during) and the follow-up (after).

... and these periods/time frames should be extended according to the context. "Aufweitung" sounds strange, though - I'd prefer "Verlängerung" or "Erweiterung".

There is too little context to be absolutely sure but this seems to be a direct translation of the English "visit", which, in trial protocols (Prüfpläne), usually designates patients' visits (Vorstellungen der Patienten/Probanden) to the (trial) centre or participating practice/institution/hospital, as opposed to doctors' rounds in the literal sense.
