English translation: executor

German to English translations [PRO]
Medical - Medical: Pharmaceuticals / Clinical trial
German term or phrase: Anwender
The study is to determine the efficacy of a medicinal product to treat a skin condition.
I am having problems with the word “Anwender” in the following context:

This is a back translation, and I would love to know what the English word may have been.

Any help appreciated!

On the burn unit, pain control loomed large. I also knew, as both executor of treatment plans and patient advocate, to keep a close eye on what doctors ordered.

Tanks uyuni & other contributors. I started doing what lirka suggested, but since the term appeared several times it got a bit cumbersome, so I opted for executor in the end.

...comes up on Google translate (DE-EN). This seems to make sense in the medical context as well.
Good Luck,

-> Thanks a lot, Ramey. Drowning in work. Not translation, however...;-) Best regards!

agree  Lirka: though it DOES sound a bit dangerous; how about translating descriptively instead?

-> Thanks, lirka! But it's the executor NOT the 'executioner' ;-)

Explanation:
For the lack of a really good word in EN, I'd just resort to a descriptive rendering here...
