ZFH Explanation: Obviously, it depends on your context, which despite mentioning "this particular context" you haven't made clear. What does your end client need their readers to *know*? What does your sentence look like? In general, I start at the institution's own website. If they have an English translation then that's their "official" name (even if it's whack): https://www.zfh.ch/en/about-us.html "The Zürcher Fachhochschule (ZFH) is composed of three public institutes of higher education: the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) and the Zurich Pedagogical University (PHZH), as well as the private institute: the Zurich University of Applied Sciences in Business Administration (HWZ). With approximately 20,000 students, it is one of the largest colleges of higher education in Switzerland." So: * They don't translate it, even though they do translate the names of ZHAW, etc. * They consider themselves a "college of higher education". Depending on what your sentence looks like and who's reading it, you might or might not insert some explanatory information, e.g. along the lines of: "X graduated from [ZHAW], one of the four member universities of the Zurich HE institute ZFH". But it's hard to say without that information. |
