I am revising a translation for an industrial image processing company.

This is part of a timeline in the company history:


2008 - die Vision Sensoren werden serienmaschinentauglich: Reproduzierbarkeit der Lage bei Austausch auf +/- 1

Any idea what Austausch could be? The translator used 'exchange' but I'm not sure that is correct.

Explanation:
Für Ersatzteile verwende ich meist "spare parts", für Austauschen meist "replacement" (wenn es um Verschleiß geht), "exchange" wäre auch möglich (z.B. beim gewollten Wechsel oder Tausch von Objektiven, die ja nicht verschleißen).

Hier geht es offensichtlich darum, einen Sensor auszutauschen, wenn er defekt ist. Der neue Sensor muß dann so genau ausgerichtet sein, dass die Position auf 1 Pixel genau bestimmt werden kann.

agree  jccantrell: Looking over the context, I go with this. Under the cameras, they state: Problemloser Wechsel zwischen den Geräteklassen (Mechanisch). I would use 'exchange' or 'replacement' of the camera. --XX-- You might also consider "upgrade." A bit far removed.
