Science - Physics / Patent litigation: wet razors

My take: Due to the "U shape" of the curved blade, the exposure in the centre of the cartridge ***continues to be negative, even if increased by one magnitude***.

Does this make sense, do you guys think?

Just what I learned in math in the gymnasium. "With" is not used (in the US, at least) in this context that I have ever heard in my 59 years here. I readily concede that one may not be correct, but the real question was "um" and I still think "by"is the correct translation into English of "um" in this context.

Orders of magnitude are used to make approximate comparisons. If numbers differ by 1 order of magnitude, x is about ten times different in quantity than y. If values differ by 2 orders of magnitude, they differ by a factor of about 100. Two numbers of the same order of magnitude have roughly the same scale: the larger value is less than ten times the smaller value. (English Wikipedia)

continues to be negative but with a higher order of magnitude

Explanation:
I am no expert in this field but as a native speaker with knowledge of Physics this your suggestion sounds a little odd to me. I think "eine" translates as "a" rather than "one" here. And I don't think you can use magnitude as a unit of measurement here. I think "order of magnitude" is more appropriate.

agree  Hans-Jochen Trost: In fact, "Größenordnung" is properly translated as "order of magnitude". I agree with your complete suggestion.

The 'aber' introduces an element of hedging or mitigation of the prior statement
