Streckenware

German to English translations [PRO]
Bus/Financial - Retail
German term or phrase: Streckenware
This term appears in a document I am translating for a German supermarket chain.
The document states that 'Streckenware' are the property of the supermarket. It contrasts this with 'Importware' which remain the property of their supplier until they are sold.
Any assistance would be much appreciated.

local products

Explanation:
Because of the contrast with "Importware" I think this may be meant.

"regional products" could also be an alternative. Strecke = region

Could this be related to "Streckengeschäft", which is a transport/logistics term? See http://www.proz.com/kudoz/german_to_english/transport_transp...

neutral  Alexander Schleber (X): Streckegngeschäft is usually translated as "forward transactions" or "drop shipment".

-> I know but 'Streckenware' might be 'shorthand' for 'Ware, die im Streckengeschäft befördert wurde'.

Reference: Streckenware

Reference information:
This cropped up in http://deu.proz.com/kudoz/german_to_italian/marketing_market...
- although it's a DE-IT question, it usefully defines Streckenware as "Bestellt wird vor allem beim Logistikzentrum, einige Artikel werden aber auch direkt beim Hersteller oder Zwischenhändler bestellt. Solche Artikel werden im Unternehmen auch Streckenwaren genannt."
