single-level living space
Explanation:
There is a step up to the area where the driver sits, but that's not part of the living area.

Boats this size normally have a number of steps, for example, going down to a berth at the bow. In this case, the living space is all on one level.

(inspired by Jeux_de_Mots:) "... allows for a single-level living space without annoying steps"

Just an idea to escape the tautology trap.

open-plan living space

Explanation:
Now I'm not sure whether the stufenlos means that it's open plan or that there are no steps, but surely the 'auf einer Ebene' also suggests the absence of steps. Do you have a layout plan for the interior?

I've just found the interior pictures. Now I'm even less sure. There is a step up to the driver's seat area ... so it can't be stepless (or whatever better phrase you might choose)

neutral  Mary Worby: So would you just leave out the 'auf einer Ebene'?

-> Hi, Mary. "stufenlos ... auf einer Ebene" is like "hegen und pflegen". They are just trying to hammer home that point, IMO. Doppelt gemoppelt hält besser.

agree  Lancashireman: It's the old doubled-gemoubled thing.

step free living space

Explanation:
The "step free" is definitely important here! The living space is on one level, but what is important here is that there are no annoying little steps in the middle of the saloon, or up to the galley for instance. (I speak from my personal experience of nasty little trips whilst a boat is underway). Everything is designed for practicality on this yacht, and this needs to be underlined.

www.dixonyachtdesign.com/PDF/Topdeck_issue3.pdf :
Four piece sliding doors from the saloon to the aft deck provide a wide, step free and continual floor ... provide exceptional amounts of living space on a yacht of her size. ...

IMO both step-free and single level need to be mentioned. There are yachts with living space on two levels (yes, we're talking real luxury here), the two levels being connected by a SERIES OF STEPS. There are also yachts with living space on one level, with these nasty SINGLE STEPS in certain parts (just to catch you out!) Finally, there are the most practical single level living spaces, which are completely free from steps, which IMO is what we're talking about here. So, the asker will need to mention single level (as opposed to two) and step-free (no hazardous steps). I would translate this as "step-free single-level living space".

neutral  Lancashireman: Hyphen essential here - for British English, at least.

  -> Thank you, you're right : step-free

agree  Paul Cohen: Also hyphenated in American English! Step-free sounds good. How about "auf einer Ebene"? Would you leave it out?
1 hr
-> Thanks Paul. Most definitely need "auf einer Ebene" too (see recent note)
