German term or phrase: Elastodien
Does anyone know the English for this fabric or class of fabrics? I'm afraid it just appears in a list of fabrics used by a clothing manufacturer so there is no more context to offer you and although I find some hits for the word in a web search, most of the entries appear to have been translated and not original English texts. Help!

elastic fibres

Explanation:
Global : Versatile clothing applications with elastic fibres

The history of elastic has its roots back to the 19th century when man came to know there were certain objects that would spring back to their original shape when the pressure applied on them was removed.

agree  Zareh Darakjian Ph.D.: No doubt here! It's polyisoprene. It's a "diene" because it has two double bonds in the monomer.
