German term or phrase: trägerband
Das elastische Trägerband eignet sich nicht nur für Träger von leichten Textilien, sondern auch zum dekorativen Einfassen und Versäubern von gerundeten Kanten an z.B. T-Shirts und Unterwäsche.

It is a product for sale with this name. I´m thinking of "support tape" but think maybe there is a more specific term in the sewing world.

English translation:strap
Explanation:
Träger are pretty much always straps, as in Spaghettiträger being Spaghetti straps.

I'm not aware of a special term for multipurpose straps like this one.

If you google for wholesale strap I am sure you'll find a product similar to yours.

it was actually one of the "disagree"s that was most helpful (Carola Lange) but that was not an option. "Strap" is actually the standard Leo entry.

agree  BrigitteHilgner: I think "shoulder strap" (Yorkshireman's suggestion) is too specific.

neutral  philgoddard: But would you call them straps if they can also be used for decoration? Aren't we talking about tape or ribbon?

-> I was wondering the same thing. But then again, it is a strap that can be "re-purposed" to be a tape or a ribbon, the other way around might be more unlikely. No clue really, I'm not really a "textile guy"...

disagree  Carola Lange: I think tape is the better solution ad translation for the unfinished material

They are mixed in among these elastic shoulder straps along with their German name.

Notes to answerer
Asker: As mentioned above, the "shoulder strap" translation is too limited and doesn´t really apply to the product - it can probably be used as a "strap" but the fact it stretches seems to speak against that use being primary. Great webpage, though! Thanks
