I see nowhere to click my preference but "most helpful" was really Carola Lange who seemed to know exactly what was involved with the product. Also wanted to mention that "Einfassband" is not really "piping" (that would be "Paspel" or "Paspelband" - IMHO "edge binding tape" is more accurate for that term.

"poor Barry Fay" is not really warranted! The whole discussion is very helpful (especially some of the links), it is just that the whole field is full of different terms for that same things. I´m almost embarrassed to say that I finally settled on "knit stretch binder tape". I´m also embarrassed to say I don´t know what my next step should be as far as "points" and "most helpful" considerations!

As a native German resident in the UK and hobby craft person I would vote for tape as translation for Traegerband. Fabric tape isn't necessarily sticky. The finished articles would then be straps or piping (Einfassband)

The tapes/straps on the myfabrics site are all shown with prices per metre.

Personally, I think the "Fashionable elastic edging ribbon for fabrics bordering" would be better suited for both purposes.

Not my subject area - but "tape" makes me think of something sticky.
