German term or phrase: Bahnenform
Kleid in Bahnenform mit weitem, rundem Ausschnitt.
I am looking at an illustration that shows a dress with a widely flared skirt, almost like a 1950s retro-style dress that they used to wear with lots of underskirts. The term appears many times on the internet, with lots of illustrations of different garments, but I can't seem to work out what they have in common and simply don't know what the English equivalent is. I have the feeling it's one of those terms that are obvious once you know the answer. I'd really appreciate any insight.
Many thanks in advance.

-> The entire dress can be panelled, gathered at the waist and additional panels added to the skirt. The point being, the dress or skirt is not of a piece, but of two or more panels. (Without jury members)
