in permanent oestrus Explanation: ... nicht mein Gebiet, doch gebe mal Schollenstadium plus Ratten in Google, dann kommst du auf Daueröstrus und somit auch auf "permanent oestrus" A recurring period of sexual receptivity and fertility in many female mammals; heat: a mare in oestrus - das wäre die Erklärung für Östrus allein |

oestrus Explanation: In this case: animals that are in oestrus for the first time. 'Schollenstadium' describes a change in vaginal tissue in rats/mice that only occurs during oestrus and therefore can be used as in indicator of of the reproductive phase of the cycle. The article below is the only one (with free access) I have found that describes what 'Scholle' means: a cell from the vaginal epithelium without nucleus, which you can then detect in smears. There are, however, plenty more references in Google that talk about animals reaching the 'Schollenstadium' after hormone injection. Hence, since 'Schollenstadium' is an indicator of 'Brunst' or 'Östrus', I suggest using just the same in English. I am nor sure though if there is a term in English that is as descriptive as the German. Maybe a vet could help? Reference: http://www.landesmuseum.at/pdf_frei_remote/LBB_0012_1_0243-0... |
