È un po' tutta la frase che in questo momento non mi viene.

Parliamo di un perno con una forma particolare (a T) che permette di fissare questi elementi in plastica per la saldatura.

Nella versione inglese è tradotto con "by inserting and engaging"

Potresti anche tradurre così. Se il gerundio risulta "pesante" e vuoi mantenere la struttura della frase, utilizzando tramite + sostantivi.
Per einrasten direi bloccare sì, ma anche contemporaneamente fissare in posizione, a volte con un udibile scatto. Quindi è possibile anche BLOCCAGGIO A SCATTO IN POSIZIONE, visto che è ciò che avviene (dice clip).
