Es mi propuesta, si es que no debes ser demasiado literal.
En cuanto a teñir, la RAE dice:
1. tr. Dar cierto color a una cosa, encima del que tenía. U. t. c. prnl.
2. tr. Dar a algo un carácter o apariencia que no es el suyo propio, o que lo altera.
3. tr. Pint. Rebajar o apagar un color con otros más oscuros.
Todo lo cual no es el caso.
