ισοζύγιο νερού = water balance (επάρκεια ή μη σε νερό)
υδραυλική ισορροπία = hydraulic balance (δυναμική των καταστάσεων του νερού)

Under normal circumstances, when determining water balances, one tends to only refer to the hydraulic balance, i.e. the accounting of all the in- and output volumes entering and leaving a system. Opposed to this, a water and salt balance uses the hydraulic balance, but then also accounts for the dissolved solids carried in the water streams. In other words, a water and salt balance can be seen as a means of accounting for all the products carried in a system where the one value can be used to verify the accuracy of the other.

Explanation:
Διάβασα το θέμα και μίλησα και με κάποιον του Πολυτεχνείου. Αν η υδραυλική ισορροπία σημαίνει το "υδατικό ισοζύγιο" που λέει κι ο Αντράς μπορεί να είναι 'water balance'. Αν η μόνιμη διατάραξη της υδραυλικής ισορροπίας έχει να κάνει με αλλαγές στα "υδραυλικά" χαρακτηριστικά του υπεδάφους, τότε μάλλον πρέπει να μιλάμε για 'permanent disruption of the hydraulic balance ή equilibrium'.
