elite scheduling Explanation: Well, at least I think so. The writer of the original doesn't seem very …σόι to me! -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 35 mins (2010-02-07 19:20:59 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Το 'scheduling', -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 37 mins (2010-02-07 19:23:26 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Ίσως να διάβασε το ακόλουθο ο εκλεκτός συγγραφεύς μας: "It requires long experience and, I may say, some--ability, to compose a really creditable schedule, one that will bring out every point clearly and exhaustively; in fact, I have ventured to call it a science"--here Mr. Perkins allowed himself to smile--"and it might be defined Schedulology. elite programming Explanation: Why not? Or "elite programming policy", which I think is the intended meaning here. |

Όσον αφορά τον αγγλικό όρο, λίγη τεκμηρίωση: "In short, the BBC is, in its current form [...] wants to play in the big game, appealing to as many audiences as possible; it certainly doesn't want to be confined to a minority ghetto, serving a cultural elite with posh programmes..." http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2003/jan/27/mondaymediasecti... "Speaking at the Oxford Media Convention, Purnell said that "posh programmes" could go unwatched under such a regime." http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2008/jan/17/bbc.television4 |

top-notch programming Explanation: http://www.google.co.uk/#q=" top-notch programming" televi... "top-notch" in the sense of "first-class", "of the highest quality" - if that's what the writer really means! -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 20 hrs (2010-02-08 15:17:47 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Well, this is guesswork. I wonder if it could be "elitist programming" (as opposed to "popular" or "populist"): Elitist programming is not a new concept for television. Indeed, many networks use it as a cornerstone of their news, sports, and entertainment departments. Golf is a well-known example of elitist sports programming, attracting only the wealthiest and most discriminating viewer, and therefore it is able to attract top tier advertisers. http://blogs.myspace.com/gcwyatt -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 3 days13 hrs (2010-02-11 08:36:24 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- There's also discussion, for example, of whether opera and classical music broadcasts are 'elitist'. |
