Isn't "την κατανάλωσή του από τους τηλεθεατές" a complicated way of saying "the amount/ degree of TV viewing done" i.e. the viewing popularity ?

...εφόσον μιλάει για μάρκετιγκ, διαφήμιση και καταναλωτικο κοινό, δηλαδή θεωρεί τους τηλεθεατές ταυτόχρονα και καταναλωτές, μπορεί να τους πει "consumers of TV programmes". Αλλιώς τι να πει; "Intake"; Θα μπορούσε, αλλά θα ήταν παράταιρο.

I don't think "consumption" is appropriate in this conext. I can understand consumers watching TV, but "consuming TV" does not sound right... to me at least. The whole passage I understand it like this: However, what is influenced by the competitive nature of the content in relation to the viewing popularity is the composition of the various factors associated with the content itself. ..... Lets see what others think.
