υποκαθιστώ: additionally to the meaning provided... = to appoint someone as responsible for the performance of a task, while retaining responsibility for all other aspects related to such task (i.e. appointment of a subcontractor for the performance of a project or part thereof while the primary contractor retains responsibility for the entire project). It is quite old but not obsolete...yet.

Υποκαθιστώ - substitute, subrogate, replace. What the text implies imo is that additionally to the non-assignment of the entire agreement, the parties do not have the right to assign or transfer any of the rights or obligations emanating from the agreement to any third party (not to each other). [Sometimes, this is followed by an exception that the party receiving payment has the right to assign the collection of amounts due to a bank].

It's almost commonplace that you get really bad source documents- contracts included- which you cannot make head or tail of. If they are drafts, you can edit some of them - I usually do- and suggest alternatives.

Not ''to the other party'' but ''to anyone'' ( anyone else, or a third party )

Therefore the phrase ''να υποκαταστήσουν '' άλλον'' ( it means to me ''ο ένας τον άλλον'' as I read it and given that there are only two contracting parties)

"Complementary to this, neither party can concede rights nor obligations to the other party" Where does the source text mention "to the other party"? I read it as: "This contract may not be assigned or otherwise transferred by either of the contracting parties..."

Before the sentence in question this chunk is the key :Η παρούσα σύμβαση δεν μπορεί να εκχωρηθεί ή καθ’ οιονδήποτε τρόπο να μεταβιβασθεί από οιοδήποτε των συμβαλλομένων μερών, ούτε .......
Compementary to this, neither party can concede rights nor obligations to the other party. This is what I understand by the sentence in Greek. I know it sounds weird but I cannot see any other alternative, Dave

Thanks, Maya, for your suggestion. As I've written in my reply to your answer, there are just two parties to this contract and I can't quite see how either of them could act in the capacity of someone else (since there are only two parties involved). In whose capacity could they be acting? Unless...

Party A (a company) is lawfully represented by Mr X. It is probable that Mr X has many other business and personal interests. Is this clause trying to say that Mr X must act as Party A, and may not act in any other capacity (such as business advisor to Party B)? This seems unlikely, given that it is in a clause about transferring or assigning rights etc.
