An English friend living in Athens wrote this to me: Probably, the most common example of a “stamped printed form” or “ένσημο έντυπο” is the old “solemn statement” form which used to have a revenue stamp printed onto the form. One therefore had to buy the form from kiosks, newsagents or stationers for five drachmas to cover the cost of the revenue stamp that was incorporated into the form.
Nick, not only do I trust your Greek but, also, admire your knowledge. However, sometimes, where I see doubt I am brave enough to give my version, without any fear of accusations or disrespect for doing so.
Transphy, the paragraph I copied below comes from a 1930 law. Stamp duty on a number of official forms was paid until 2001. Read the law that put a stop to tax stamps and you will see that it says: Με απόφαση του Υπουργού Οικονομίας και Οικονομικών μπορεί να ορίζεται ο τρόπος επιστροφής των ποσών των τελών χαρτοσήμου και της επ' αυτών εισφοράς υπέρ ΟΓΑ των ενσήμων εντύπων συναλλαγματικών και γραμματίων...
ένσημος = adjective here. It means "carrying a preprinted tax stamp" or "with a tax stamp already affixed". έντυπο = form. A printed form with blanks to be filled in.
@ Peter Close. Can you tell other people what the difference between MY 'PRINTED STAMPS' and YOUR 'Stamp sheets or printed sheets of stamps or sheets of stamps', except that you had arranged the 'printed stamps' into sheets!!!??? And how have you agreed with Nick, when you still have answered the question NOT in the spirit that Nick kindly suggested!!!
@Nick I had seen that there was a difference in the 'asked' from the one in the text given. However, because of the other question, which read 'κινητό ένσυμο', Ι believed the correct question was as asked. Asker should clarify this, one way or the other, in my opinion.
