telecommunications deregulation Explanation: http://www.google.gr/search?hl=el&q="telecommunications dere... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 7 mins (2006-04-06 20:50:17 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Deregulation is the process by which governments remove restrictions on business in order to (in theory) encourage the efficient operation of markets. The stated rationale for deregulation is often that fewer regulations will lead to a raised level of competitiveness, therefore higher productivity, more efficiency and lower prices overall. Deregulation is different from liberalization because a liberalized market, allowing any number of players, can be regulated to protect the consumer's rights, especially to prevent de facto or even legal oligopolies. However, the terms are often used interchangeably within deregulated/liberalised industries. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deregulation -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 10 mins (2006-04-06 20:53:03 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Δεν γνωρίζω τι ακριβώς προτίθενται να κάνουν στην Κύπρο οπότε ισχύει ενδεχομένως και το liberalization που αναφέρει το παράθεμα από τη Wikipedia. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 15 mins (2006-04-06 20:57:57 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Eδώ μιλάνε για deregulation στην Κύπρο: Members also raised a number of questions in connection with Cyprus' sectoral policies. Thus, in agriculture, questions were posed on the use and level of subsidies, and on the MFN and preferential implementation of certain tariff quotas, including on sheepmeat. In manufacturing, the use of export subsidies related to local content was questioned. Members also raised questions on Cyprus' plans for further liberalization in financial services; its position on deregulation in telecommunications and possible WTO commitments; plans to expand the tourism sector, including by liberalizing the investment regime; and a possible relaxation of restrictions in maritime and port services. While two members recalled Paragraph 4 of the Singapore Ministerial Declaration, they posed questions relating to the observation of "core labour standards" by Cyprus. http://www.wto.org/english/tratop_e/tpr_e/tp56_e.htm Κι εδώ μιλάνε και για liberalization και για deregulation: The underlying objectives of the said network are to : Exploit a safe method of communication to be used by the Authority’s Control Center in Nicosia (the capital of Cyprus), in order to transmit signals and to receive data from Power Stations and Substations throughout Cyprus ; Utilize the newest and fastest communications technology available ; Use this network for telephony, telemetry, e-mail, Internet, and other plausible applications ; Create a network which would be efficient enough to be able to compete with other telecommunication networks anticipated to be developed by competitive organizations following the inevitable deregulation and liberalization of the telecommunications market http://www.eu-esis.org/esis2alt/CYalt7.htm |
