Greek term or phrase: κοινωνική υπόσταση

Δεν πρόκειται για social staus, δηλαδη για άνοδο σε μια κοινωνική ιεραρχία, αλλα για την "κοινωνική διάσταση της ύπαρξης τους". Σκέφτηκα τα social existence, social substance, social presence αλλα κάθε ένα με τον τρόπο του μπορεί να οδηγήσει σε παρεξήγηση. Κάποια ιδέα;

social being
Explanation:
I assume that you have translated "εκκοινώνηση" as socialisation/socialization. If so, "social being" would be an appropriate term that befits one's acquisition of skills and knowledge as a member and/or to become a member of society.

Thanks, that works great! For the record, «εκκοινώνηση» would be "enculturation". There is a very subtle difference between enculturation and socialisation, in that the latter emphasises the conscious and deliberate aspects of the internalisation of cultural norms and values.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks for your meticulous research and explanation. I think, however, that "υπόσταση" in this context goes a tad deeper, it relates to an individual's "social essence", not just his or her assumed role or place in the hierarchy. I know that there is a philosophical debate on whether there is a valid distinction between the role and the essence of a person, but I just aim to follow the author's intention...
