Greek to English translations [PRO] Ships, Sailing, Maritime
Greek term or phrase:βάλετε SWELL 2,5-3 MTRS
PLS στείλετε ξανά τα noon reports των 3 τελευταίων ημερών και βάλετε στις 07ΤΗ AUG SWELL 2,5-3 MTRS και καιρό 5άρι όχι 2άρι as per AW όπως είπατε εκτός και αν είχατε λιγότερο.
Δεν πολυκαταλαβαίνω τι εννοεί... Υπάρχει περίπτωση βοήθειας, λίγο;
It is obvious that all this text (with several entries by Mina) has been written by a Greek Seaman in the Greek Sea slang which contains many English words. So in this case he asks those who have written a weather report of a certain day and time to amend it. He asks them to 'put 2,5-3 m swell' as Philip suggests (obviously the original report was not strong enough, this is also valid for the next entry about the wind 5άρι - όχι 2άρι).
Αυτές οι εμβόλιμες σελίδες είναι ανάμεικτες... Και από Ελλ>Αγγλικά και το αντίστροφο. Ευτυχώς, από τις 39 σελίδες που είναι αυτό το κομμάτι έχω κάνει τις 26 σελίδες...
And I saw all the Greek answers and the Greek text with the English and thought it was English to Greek (that's why I thought her question was justified otherwise why translate it?).. :) LOL .... In this case yes you are 1000% percent right about leaving it as is.
Dear Philip, Our colleague, Theodoros, has already provided the Greek translation equivalent, so I don't understand the sarcasm in your response. Assimina has to use the Greek word. It's plain and simple.
As Theodoros says, a swell in this context means a rise and fall of the sea, but not so abruptly as to be considered a wave. So you can leave it as it is in the English translation.
