Δρομοι: 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500, 5χλμ, 10χλμ, 4χ100, 4χ400 ... Επιπρόσθετα, στους αγώνες 800 μέτρων και άνω ο αφέτης μπορεί, εάν γίνει ...

Αυτοί όλοι οι 'δρόμοι' γίνονται στο 'Track', thus called 'Track Events'. No ambiquity in English. Έτσι τα ονομάζουν οι Άγγλοι!!!

It depends if you are thinking in British English or American English. In British English, 'athletics' is: 'the sport of competing in track and field events, including running races and various competitions in jumping and throwing'; but in American English, it is: 'physical sports and games of any kind'. One 'road' or 'track' event that is not a running event is 'race walking'. Track events include 'race walking', but I don't think that anyone could describe 'race walking' as being a 'running event'.

All I am trying to say, Nick, is that, 'running events' are grouped and spoken of as 'Track events', as a general collective heading. End of story!!

Also, Track and field - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. They all refer to 'Track events' not 'running events'.

Δεν χρειάζεται να χυθεί πολύ μελάνι. Υπέδειξα το λήμμα της Wikipedia με το οποίο τεκμηρίωσα το running event. Με κάνει να νιώθω καλύτερα όταν ενδεχομένως ο μαραθώνιος δύσκολα θεωρείται track event. Από την άλλη, δεν ανήκει στον κλασικό αθλητισμό. Προσωπικά, θα έβαζα και τις δύο αποδόσεις στην απόδοση.

O 'Κλασικός Αθλητισμός', στα Αγγλικά είναι απλώς 'Athletics'.
'Athletics', with minor 'grey areas' such as the Marathon., is divided into 'Track events', which are events ON THE TRACK, such as 100/200/400/800 metres etc., which are ALL running events, and 'Field Events', such as discus, shot put, long/short/high Jump etc. which are NOT running events. So, the phrase 'Track events' constitutes 'running on the track' and under the heading of 'Track events'. As your question says, 'δρόμοι', in plural. So, 'Track events' is the grouping of all the events people run for a placement. In English 'track events' are not called 'running events', they are events that competitors 'run for a placement'.
