English translation:class
Explanation:
Kita is the word for class in Hebrew, unless there is a letter after it. For example "Kita Alef" means "first grade".

O_Delia, what is the context of what you are translating? Is it a list of courses in a syllabus or catalogue? That's what it sounds like. In that case, מטמטיקה א would mean "Math I" or "Math 101", as opposed to מטמטיקה ב,
On the other hand, מטמטיקה כתה might refer to the classroom sessions, as in, Math (class), as opposed to do-it-your-self online.

If I'm still far off, I need still more context. Sorry!

Hi, I can't see the grade roster, but מטמטיקה א would either mean, as I said, "Math One" (or 101), or it would mean that the person got an "alef", an "A", in the course, or it might mean "Semester I".

מטמטיקה כתה would be telling you the format of the course. Course format can involve independent research, classroom study, a seminar. fieldwork, etc.
I might write, "Mathematics (classroom format)" Sometimes the word "format" is written at the top of the column.
Any better?
