No capitals, not quite the same Explanation: What you have there is correct: Erev tov = ערב טוב = good evening Layla tov = לילה טוב = good night They are not exactly the same: "Erev tov" (good evening) could mean "hello" or "goodbye" "Layla tov" is only used in the same way as "good night" in English. And no, there is no such thing as capital letters in Hebrew. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 36 mins (2010-07-27 10:25:36 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Alternatively, you can regard them all as capitals and say that there is no such thing as lower-case letters in Hebrew! The only distinction in Hebrew (irrespective of position in sentence, proper nouns, names, etc.) is between printed/typed letters*1 and handwritten letters*2 - some of which are very different from the printed ones. *1, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hebrew_alphabet *2, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cursive_Hebrew -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 14 days (2010-08-10 14:56:41 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Was this answer helpful to you? -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 24 days (2010-08-20 15:56:14 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Apparently not :-( |
