The Hungarian sounds slightly different, but in fact is merely more precise than the English. You can see on the diagram how there is some kind of convection going on here.

agree  juvera: The Hungarian is not really precise: "kanyargósság ellenére"-in spite of the meandering is wrong. Silting & erosion happens precisely because of the meandering & it exaggerates itself until the "hoop" closes up & the bend gets disconnected from the river.

  -> that's why I say the "enyhe" is the point of that sentence
