A "meeting" lehagyható, ha nem tetszik, a hangsúly a "leadership election" részen van. Szerintem egyértelművé kell tenni, hogy miről szavaznak. Különben mitől tisztújító???

Anyone above a simple party member status belongs to the leadership. We can open a discussion of course as to what specifically defines a "leader" but I still believe that someone voted into an office is basically a leader in his or her own field. I believe the term "leadership" can pretty much include people inside the party being in some elevated status compared to an ordinary member.

National election meeting

Explanation:
The sentence could be written as

'the party is having it's national election meeting on saturday'

or remove 'meeting' to read

'the party is holding it's national elections on saturday

depending upon your preferred translation of 'tart' and how you feel about holding elections and having meetings

disagree  kyanzes: Mark, I believe the original expression deals with the party's internal matters. That is, they are to vote party officials into office. Your solution implies that the party is about to elect governmental officials. I don't believe that holds.

-> if the sentence read, 'the party is holding national elections on saturday' I would agree but the possesive 'it's' makes it clear that these elections are for the party only. Also at party meetings it is not just the leadership that is elected

election assembly

Explanation:
According to the Országh nagyszótár, "tisztújítás" is "election of officials". And in this context, to catch the right register, I think you'll want to use "assembly" as a translation for "ülés".

Depending on the exact context, you may want to choose "assembly election"

"Leadership election" sounds a bit strange to me. Probably because it sounds a bit redundant, as all elected officials are "leaders" in some regard (as kyanzes states above). A google search confirms this: only 85 direct hits for "leadership election meeting". However, you'll get 49,300 direct hits for "election assembly", at which (as I state below) votes are actually cast.

neutral  hollowman (X): A "tisztújító ülés" nemcsak egy "election assembly". - A "tisztújító ülés" egyben a választások lebonyolítása is. Szerintem.

-> Votes are actually cast at election assemblies. If you google "election assembly", you'll get plenty of examples of this.
