As for the 'belahan', the figures show that casting molds are divided into three types - single, double, and multiple 'belahan' (splits).

On the face of it "splits" doesn't sound right because to me it refers to a rupture between two parts of something -- i.e. not to the parts themselves. I need to know just what is being referred to here. |

Terima kasih, Fan. Dari rujukan yg didapat, 'belahan' yg dimaksud nampaknya berkaitan dg alat cetak cor - ada yg tunggal, ada yg dua bagian, ada yg lebih dua bagian.

gap size and width tolerance
Hot milling works by rolling super-hot steel between hot rollers (rotating in opposite directions). Could it be that ‘belahan’ here refers to the gap between the rollers, thus the reference would be to the tolerance of the gap size (which would dictate the thickness of the steel) and the width of the rollers (just guessing). Normally you might expect the word ‘celah’ to be used.

| Thank you for your thoughtful comment. This really bothered me at first because I've just put in the translation. However, I think what is meant must be "fissures" because it is part of a series of tables indicating measurements and tolerances for "quality requirements" (syarat mutu) and so it refers to properties/characteristics of the steel sheets/plates/coils produced. But thanks for your input, anyway. |
