herds, flocks Explanation: it's slightly unusual to see this word being used apparently for sheep, which was the principal species used in transhumance, as mandria usually refers to cattle. On that basis, herds would cover both species, whereas the more usual collective word for sheep (i.e. flocks) would exclude any cattle. Is there any more context to indicate which species we rare dealing with? |
