agree  philgoddard: This is clearly the right answer, though I'm still not sure what it means. Is it a cluster of objects?

  -> Thanks! It's quite difficult to find a clear definition. What I've found so far is that most extended objects have an irregular shape. Some examples are galaxies, nebulae, planetary nebulae, comets, galactic nebulae and globular clusters.
