Italian term or phrase: estratto per riassunto
Hi, I hope my question doesn't seem too basic: what are both the literal and the intended meanings of the words "estratto per riassunto" at the start of a birth or marriage certificate?
I have seen "estratto" translated as "extract", as in "Ëxtract of Birth Certificate" but I wonder if that is misleading as it is not what English means by an "extract" in relation to a certificate. Or is it? Basically, I am hoping that someone can tell me whether it is OK to translate "Estratto per riassunto dai Registri degli atti di Matrimonio" as "Certificate from the Registers of Marriage Records", and if so, what part that phrase "estratto per riassunto" plays in this meaning.
Thanks so much.
