Italian term or phrase: Descrittore del file
This is in a manual explaining the features of a POS Multiservice Terminal. It mentions a string and then it says:

Ottiene il descrittore del file per l'accesso alla periferica.

I cannot find any English equivalent for descrittore, but I'm sure I'm just not seeing it, as it's probably been translated from English in the first place.

Thanks.
