Phrase from a manual about hardening the configuration of a server exposed to the Internet.

"Per mezzo delle Group Policy è possibile blindare la configurazione dei servizi in modo da reimpostare le loro impostazioni a intervalli regolari, eliminando le modifiche effettuate ****in modo non controllato.****"

This is torturing me, I have a complete mental block about this. The nearest I can come is "blindly" in my translation below.

"By using the Group Policy, the service configurations can be protected by resetting their settings at regular intervals and ***blindly*** overwriting/eliminating any changes made."

It's functionally correct, but I don't want to use "blindly". Any ideas?

The way I understand this is: changes that were made when the program ran without any supervision, when it wasn't being monitored. You reset the configurations at regular intervals to ensure correct functionality, to eliminate any errors made that were beyond your control because you weren't there to edit the configuration (I don't think it means that you blindly overwrite changes).

In other words, "modo non controllato" refers to "modifiche effetuate", not to "eliminando".

Just another option - I agree with Maria and Nino. Since the Group Policy is restoring the standard settings, and overwriting all changes made that weren't supervised/monitored, thye could also be considered "unathorized" changes I suppose.
