array in context Explanation: Since "assieme di assiemi" does not exist on Google. We can perhaps conclude that this author is inventing his terms (see first link). Perhaps what he is referring to is a very common term for sets of items in computer language which is an "array" and an "array of arrays" is a very common technique used in programming. A common syntax for an array of arrays is variable[][]. The correct terminology for these in italian is matrice and "matrice di matrici" http://www.google.com/search?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=&q="matrice... However, where the matrice of array contains nominal data, it is sometimes referred to as a set. If this is the case here then Alessandra's suggestion will be correct. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 15 days (2007-11-29 18:29:04 GMT) Post-grading -------------------------------------------------- Happened to be doing some programming in visual basic for applications (VBA) and remembered this query. The Italian version of VBA uses the term "insieme" for "collections" of objects. These collections are in fact "arrays" because they can be indexed and accessed just like an array. Probably not the case for Anne's networking "functional" context, but might be useful for fellow kudoz browsers. Reference: http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&safe=off&q=%22ass...
