Is there an equivalent term in English? I can't think of anything.
Thank you for the help.

although they definitely are not referring to ready made mixes, they do refer to doughs and batters that are used as a foundation for more complex deserts. So, i think both "basic" and "mixes" are needed. Thank you!

neutral  Lara Barnett: I think "mix" recalls the off the shelf packets you buy of ready made cake mixtures.

agree  Rachel Fell: cakes and pastries (I don't think you need to say basic here as it goes on to specify types)

neutral  Shera Lyn Parpia: I don't think they're referring to a mix as in "ready to cook" - these are cooked

simple/basic pastry and cakes

Explanation:
I don't think they are referring to mixes - aren't they simply referring to cooked pastry and cakes? Not the elaborate ones, just the simple, basic recipes.

Basic pastry and cake doughs

Explanation:
