vegeterian sauce Italian style
Explanation:
my idea

Ragù bianco means there is no tomato. Bianco has a meaning as long as it is used with the word ragù, which refers to a "red" meat sauce.
Ragù is usually translated as "meat sauce" so I would just use "sauce" without specifying its color

-> You're right that the recipe is vegetarian in this case, however "white ragu sauce" is term that is used for many variations on this theme - chunky white pasta sauces in general.

Italian ragù sauce without tomato

Explanation:
I have seen this recip called "White ragù", but I feel this is distracting to an English speaker, since the sauce contains no cream or bechamel. The word bianco simply indicates "without tomato".

as to whether you need to translate it, where is this list (context)? Probably leave the Italian and put a translation e.g. in brackets/underneath?

neutral  Janice Giffin: On the other hand, bianco does not mean meatless. See my two references.
5 mins
-> As I said, bianco means tomatoless. The point is not here. Ragù just means chunky sauce, not a smooth one. It does not necessarily refer to meat.

agree  P.L.F. Persio: sì, è importante sottolineare che si tratta di un ragù vegetariano.
1 hr
  -> Grazie!

neutral  writeaway: don't think Italian style works here. and omitting the fact it's a white sauce (besciamella) isn't a great idea either imo.
1 hr
-> It does not work in the original, either. There is no besciamella in this recipe, besciamella is made with milk, flour and butter.

agree  Nancy Greenleese: I would avoid using ragù since that is often incorrectly identified as only a meat and tomato sauce in some English-speaking countries (like mine, U.S., I'm sorry to admit). Best is Italian-style vegetarian sauce. Good idea, Cynthia.

agree  Jeffrey Schwartz: Agree with the no tomato as I have heard "pizza bianco" which is without tomato sauce.
