special undertaking Explanation: A special undertaking (‘azienda speciale’) is an organisation which is owned by a local government and which, unlike an institution, has its own legal status. Even if it, too, has managerial and accounting autonomy, it is also financially dependent on local government grants. Special undertakings have usually been created in order to provide economic services (public transport, public car parks, management of assets) and public works (water services, waste collection a nd disposal, road maintenance, parks and gardens). Many are currently being transformed into joint stock companies. http://www.diva-portal.org/smash/get/diva2:457983/FULLTEXT01... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 20 hrs (2015-10-04 09:03:51 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- 10 Article 23 of Law No 142/90, which defines special undertakings and non-profit making institutions, provides as follows: 1.
