lesson / class Explanation: Both terms are uses quite interchangeably, especially by teachers. However a lesson is defined as a given amount of instruction within a specific period of time. A lesson is a single time period of instruction. A class, while it could be used to denote the same thing, also means a 'series of lessons'. A 'lesson' is only single and cannot be a series. Here is the big difference: a 'class' also denotes a series of instruction periods in a given subject. A class also refers to the group of students that receives instruction.
