class register and diary Explanation: registro di classe refers to what to me seems to me a particularly Italian instrument recording both attendance and subjet matters covered -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2019-03-06 17:00:04 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- class journal sounds better than diary, but refers to records made by students. Class diary is an actual technical term for what is at issue here, I think. |

Class register and log book Explanation: When we bought the old school where we now live, they had left a lot of stuff behind, including the Log Book (called that on the front cover) with details of attendance, anything of note that happened and so on. The class attendance registers were separate but that could just be the Scottish system. |

Class register Explanation: I've taught in schools in Italy and in English speaking countries, and 'register' or 'class register' was always the English word used. |

(class) attendance register Explanation: There are several possibilities here as you are really asking about 2 different things. The official school attendance register: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/... is a record of school numbers and determines staffing and funding to schools by the Dept. of Education. It must be filled in morning and afternoon and returned to the Dept. either at the end of the school year or at the end of each term. So, the register of attendance is just that and does not contain teachers' notes or lesson plans. Also known as a roll book in Ireland with each school having an official "roll" number. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/roll book A log book may have been kept in some areas/schools to record incidents. But a teacher's organiser/yearbook/diary/handbook/planner (all words can be validly used) is an organiser where teachers can record not just class attendance but also test results, notes, staff meetings, PTA meetings etc. I was a (second-level) teacher for many years and always got a new "organiser" each year to keep records and personal notes on all my classes. Note that primary-level teachers may only have one class group to record whereas second-level have many. |
