Ogni viso diviene una tensione, la corda tirata di un arco prima che scocchi il dardo, con variazioni espressive che oscillano tra la magia della bellezza e l’equilibrio instabile della forza pittorica che ne modifica, rinforza, sottolinea (cancella?) i tratti e il carattere.


As these two terms seem to depend on each other to provide a contrast at either end of the scale being described, I hope nobody minds if I post them into one question. I am going to put something like:
