Italian term or phrase: preservare la dimensione umana
This is an essay/article on "smart mobility and user centrality". Context here:

Smart mobility e centralità dell’utente
Guardare alla persona e preservare la dimensione umana rimangono punti fondamentali nella rivoluzione digitale.

I am unsure if "dimension" would work here because it sounds odd to me, so I was going to use "retaining a human perspective". Am I making too much of this, or have I got a point?

It is therefore crucial that we build the listening part of our roles so it becomes an integral part of what we do if we are to work in unison with AI in the longer term. Listening may well be the future of PR and is likely to play an important role in safeguarding the human element of our profession in the future.

making technology work for people rather than the other way round

Explanation:
I would maybe translate the entire first part of the sentence like that to avoid repetition. Lots of ways to say this, of course; this is just one.

Btw, I tend to prefer "people/person" over "human" whenever possible when translating the French humain because "human" can feel cold or sound downright odd in some instances (e.g. "humans are at the heart of our business"...which reads like a statement from Monster Snacks Ltd!).

And I don't think you're overthinking it, either; "human dimension" is a bit stiff and 'engineer-speak' (which contradicts the whole point of the piece!).

Example sentence(s):
  • Making technology work for people rather than the other way round remains a basic concern of the digital revolution.
