C'è un verbo in un testo che sto traducendo su cui ho dubbi per la resa in inglese e l'ho messo fra virgolette :

Chong e Lee non '' potranno '' mai scusarsi abbastanza con Mei per non averla aiutata come avrebbero dovuto.

Chong and Lee '' shall '' never apologize to Mei enough for not helping her with house cleaning work as they should have done.

L'uso di '' will/shall never be able to '' non mi sembra adeguato nè al contesto, nè alla resa del verbo '' potranno ''. Inoltre l'uso di will significherebbe che non si scuseranno mai. Infine, l'uso di shall sembra adeguato perchè esiste una regola che shall si usa anche per fare previsioni.

I'd say "can", unless you think from the wider context (which we don't have) that this is a statement about the future. But "shall" is wrong.

Ok, molte grazie a tutti anche se mi suona stranissimo che nel contesto di '' scusarsi '' si usa '' can '' e '' be able to '', ma ovviamente non posso cambiare le regole :)
